Disposal Rates

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough charges fees for disposal of solid waste that will be collected at the Central Landfill and at each of the Borough Transfer Stations in Sutton, Butte, Big Lake, Willow, Talkeetna, Trapper Creek, and Long Rifle Lodge.

Rates at Central Landfill (Located at 49th State Street, just off the Palmer-Wasilla Highway)
Fees are calculated on drop off weight by use of commercial scales. In the event the scales are inoperative the landfill will defer to the set rate structure in place for the transfer sites and charge by volume.	Minimum Charge $ 6.00 201 - 400 lbs. $12.00 401 - 600 lbs. $18.00 601 - 800 lbs. $24.00 Loads over 800 lbs. will be charged at a rate of $60.00/ton
Unsecured Load Fee (residential)	$12.00 in addition to regular load charge
Unsecured Load Fee (greater than 5 cubic yards)	$36.00 in addition to regular load charge
Refuse from outside of Borough	$120.00/ton

Rates at Refuse Transfer Sites
33-gal. or less garbage bag/can=	1-2 bags/cans.........................$1.00 ea.
33-gallon garbage bags/cans=	3-6 bags/ < 1 cubic yard........$6.00
*Bed level or less =	1-3 cubic yards......................$12.00
*Bed level to halfway up cab=	3-4 cubic yards......................$18.00
Halfway up cab to top of cab= Based on full size 8' pickup bed	4-5 cubic yards .....................$24.00 Loads accepted at transfer sites are limited to 5 cubic yards.**
Unsecured Load Fee	$12.00 in addition to regular load charge
* the $1.00 per bag or can rate applies to TRANSFER SITES only
** Size limit of loads accepted at transfer sites is 5 cubic yards, which is equal to a 4x4x8 trailer or pickup bed filled to the top of the cab. All material must be shorter than 8' in length.

Latex Paint 5 gallons free, 50 cents each additional gallon $.50/gal

Electronics 1 system free, $10.00 per additional item (a system is a monitor, CPU, printer and key board) $180.00 pallet plus $.50/lb

Annually the Borough will mail out one coupon to each owner of a developed property within the Borough. To receive this coupon you must be a resident of the Borough. Only one coupon will be issued to an owner of multiple properties. This coupon may be used at any transfer site or at Central Landfill.

At all sites fees may be paid by cash, check, or commercial charge accounts.

MasterCard and VISA are not accepted.

Commercial charge accounts may be established prior to disposal by setting up an account with the Borough Solid Waste Division, (Telephone number: 745-9839).
