suttonlibraryDec2011MAT-SU–The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assembly introduced an ordinance Tues. night  that will send $60,000 in donations for the Sutton Library And Resource Center project. BP Alaska donated $50,000 and Friends of the Sutton Library raised $10,000, after many fundraising activities.

The grant from BP will fund the Community Meeting room.  Assemblymember Warren Keogh and former Assemblymember Lynne Woods were instrumental in acquiring the grant. That room will be named after BP and will be used as a gathering place for the community, for lectures, speakers, invited authors and other valuable events.

NOTE: This press release was corrected. Originally it said the ordinance had already passed. The Assembly will consider the ordinance in January.
