Conditional Use Permits are required for certain land uses within the Borough.

Earth Materials Extraction Permit - Kennerson Excavation, Inc. (18N01E10D003)

An application for an administrative permit for the extraction of earth materials has been submitted.  The applicant is requesting a permit to extract 200,000 cubic yards of material from a 20 acre pad site within a 75 acre parcel.  The subject parcel is located on Tex-Al Road aligment, approximately 3/4 miles west of Palmer-Fishhook Road.

Tri Metal International Conditional Use Permit

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing concerning the following application for a conditional use permit on Monday, November 21, 2011, at 6:15 p.m. in the Borough Assembly Chambers in Palmer.

An application for a conditional use permit under MSB 17.60 – Conditional Uses, has been submitted by Tri Metal International LLC for the operation of a salvage yard for the collection, cutting, and staging of material for export from Port MacKenzie.  The proposed site is located on MSB Tax Parcels# 16N03W24D009 (10405 S. Knik Goose Bay Road) and 4617000L002B (10425 S. Knik Goose Bay Road), within Township 16 North, Range 3 West, Section 24, Seward Meridian.

The conditional use permit application will be introduced for public hearing at the November 7, 2011 Planning Commission meeting. The Planning Commission members may submit questions to the Planning Commission Clerk concerning the matter or request for more information from the applicant at the time of introduction.  All questions and requests submitted by the Commission shall be in writing and copies will be provided to the applicant and made available to all interested parties and the public upon request.  Answers to questions and additional material requests will be addressed in the staff report for the public hearing.

Commission members may not receive or engage in ex-parte contact with the applicant, other interested parties in the application, or members of the public concerning the application of issues presented in the application.
