Material Sales

Material Sales are available by application from the LMD.

Applicants are advised to consult with the Resource Management Specialist, and obtain a copy of the LMD procedures for material sales. prior to submitting an application.

The application process will take longer than 60 days to complete due to public notice and board review requirements. The LMD will work to negotiate a contract for the applicant in the least amount of time.

Upon contract agreement, the contractor will be required to provide:

• proof of insurance ($300,000 minimum)
• a performance bond
• a reclamation bond
• a minimum royalty pre-payment
• Assembly approval is required for contracts greater then $25,000

Timber Sales

Currently (7/26/11) the Borough is seeking Comments for the 5-Year Timber Harvest Schedule. Click on the link to review the documents and maps. Comments are due 8/26/2011. Comments will be incorporated into legislation and presented to the Borough Assembly (possibly in September 2011) for approval according to Borough Code MSB 23.20.090. 
 

After Borough Assembly approval of the 5-Year Timber Harvest Schedule the Community Development Department will prepare a Periodic Timber Harvest Implementation Schedule (MSB 23.20.110). This schedule will provide timber sale details to be offered in a competitive bid timber harvest sale. The Periodic Timber Harvest Implementation Schedule also provides for public review.

Five Year Timber Harvest Schedule

Competitive timber harvest bids will be advertised in the local newspaper, the main Borough webpage and notices will be sent to interested parties. Formal competitive bid solicitation will be conducted by the Finance/Purchasing Department.
